The brash Misha falls in love with a new teacher, while the quiet Taya hides the fact that her parents are planning to marry her off to a foreigner to save the family. Their friendship, through betrayal and pain, becomes a pillar of strength: they understand that growing up doesn't mean running away, but rather learning to stand up for yourself, even if it means being hurt by reality.
